Choosing a vet for your cat

Before your cat needs care, call the hospital and consider the following:

The answer to all of these questions will be Yes at Lexington Hospital for Cats.

  • Was your initial encounter with the employees of the hospital positive?

  • Do the employees appreciate and respect cats and their unique needs?
  • Does the hospital follow the latest guidelines for cat care established by the American Association of Feline Practitioners?
  • Do they use PureVax®  vaccines to avoid serious vaccine reactions sometimes seen in cats?
  • Do they use the newest gas anesthesia (sevoflurane) as the standard of care for all anesthetic experiences?
  • Will they routinely examine your cat’s ears using an ear camera to insure the best exam?
  • Do they have state-of-the-art direct digital x-ray equipment including a dental x-ray system?
  • Is pain management included in all painful conditions and surgeries?
  • Do they have an oxygen cage that provides precise levels of oxygen to your cat if needed?
  • Do they check blood pressures on cats on a regular basis?
  • Can they run the most common lab tests in house to speed diagnosis?
  • Do they regularly calibrate their lab equipment to insure valid test results?
  • Do they keep detailed computerized medical records and make them available to you at all times?
